Panorama road and popular hiking area in Styria

The alpine pasture Aflenzer Bürgeralm at the foot of the Hochschwab area is a huge area and a popular hiking region of Styria. In the valley (near the alpine inn Pierergut) is the beginning of the panorama road which has a length of 7 kilometers and which beginns 1000 m above the sea level. The road is out of gravel and the offers great views during a hiking or mountain biking tour. It is possible to see alpine pastures like the Fölzalm or the Mitteralm. It is also to go on the road by car from the beginning of May to October. At the alpine pasture Aflenzer Bürgeralm a unique flora and fauna will impress you. In the summer months June and July the alpine pasture is full of arnica.

Our tip is a hiking tour to the viewpoint at the summit of the Bürgeralm with a wonderful view over the valley. As well you should visit the panorama path Skywalk. This is a wide hiking path for the whole family and it leads from the parking space at the Bürgeralm to the „Gretlhöh“ 1.600 m above the sea level. Here is the starting point of the Skywalk which is connected with a pont and glass elements.

At the summit of the Aflenzer Bürgeralm, 1. 810 m above the sea level you will find a round hiking path and the restaurant Schönleitenhaus. The alpine hut will impress you with regional culinary delights like the „Fedlkoch“ and „Almkaffee“. Further the alpine hut is a popular starting point for hiking tours around the mountain Hochschwab.
