In the tourist region Hochsteiermark pilgrims find numerous well-marked pilgrims´ footpaths.

The path is a symbol of our lives. We may regard ourselves as “homo viator”, as people being on their way. Life is movement in space and time towards a particular destination. As each journey has a destination, so have our lives, a destination mundane or spiritual.

For a religious person this destination has a spiritual dimension. People have always been on their way to find and reach their destination in life: the three Wise Men from the East, who were looking for the new-born King of the Jews, the pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem, Rome or Santiago de Compostela, Muslim pilgrims on their way to Mecca.
